The role would be based in Wolverhampton and would involve working Shifts. The available shifts are Earlies and back shift/lates rotated or/and Night shift.
Shifts :
Double day shift - earlies and lates rotated weekly. 26.18 per hour PAYE plus holiday - 3.81 per hour / 35.70 per hour Umbrella)
Continental Shift - 2 days on 2 nights on - 4 DAYS OFF - 32.53 per hour PAYE plus 4.73 per hour holiday pay/ 44.35 Umbrella

As a Gear Cutter, you’ll operate and set up a variety of specialised equipment including Gleason, Phoenix, and Lorenz/Liebherr machines, ensuring each component meets exacting specifications.
This role will appeal to someone with strong mechanical aptitude, an eye for precision, and a drive to continuously develop within a leading aerospace organisation.
What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?
•          Set, operate, and adjust gear cutting machines such as Gleason 104 CNC, Gleason 710, Phoenix 280C, and Lorenz/Liebherr shapers to manufacture high-precision bevel gears.
•          Interpret and follow detailed engineering drawings, work instructions, and process layouts to ensure all operations meet aerospace standards.
•          Carry out CNC programming adjustments, offsets, and setup optimisation to maintain part accuracy and repeatability.
•          Perform gear rolling and pre-assembly checks to confirm correct tooth engagement and smooth operation.
•          Conduct first-off and in-process inspections using Klingelnberg and optical measurement equipment to verify tooth geometry, alignment, and finish.
•          Use polish and finishing equipment to achieve required surface quality and dimensional tolerances.
•          Work collaboratively with manufacturing engineers to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement projects.
•          Adhere to all Safran safety, quality, and TPM standards, maintaining an organised and compliant workstation.
•          Complete accurate documentation and data recording for traceability and quality assurance.
•          Contribute to the development of best practices across the gear manufacturing team, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues.
What will you bring to the role?
Essential skills:
•          Minimum 3 years’ experience in gear cutting or similar precision machining, ideally within an aerospace or high-integrity manufacturing environment.
•          Proven competence with Gleason and CNC-controlled gear cutting machinery (including 104 CNC, 710, Phoenix 280C, Lorenz, or Liebherr models).
•          NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering.
•          Strong understanding of gear geometry, bevel gear cutting, and inspection principles.
•          Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
•          High attention to detail, commitment to quality, and strong problem-solving capability.
•          Awareness of TPM, 5S, and health & safety standards within a manufacturing environment.
Desirable skills:
•          Apprentice-trained or equivalent technical background.
•          Familiarity with Klingelnberg gear measurement systems and optical inspection tools.
•          Experience in CNC programming and process optimisation.
•          Understanding of gear rolling and polishing operations.
•          Flexibility to support multiple processes within the cell.
•          Willingness to work shifts (Double Days or Night Shift) depending on business requirements.
