Develop a supplier quality strategy work plan for a segment of the RPCA Coatings & Chemical Process quality team, ensuring alignment with the Part Family Quality Leader’s vision for the entire team. Individual will drive quality for protective coating and chemical processing suppliers, including quality plan implementation, part qualification quality support, and utilizing APQP tools to proactively prevent defects. Own supplier results, drive improvements utilizing supplier scorecard and process data. Own supplier audits, ensuring compliance, and driving improvement plans where needed. Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Roles and Responsibilities
- Drive improved supplier performance through launch and execution of supplier Quality Improvement Plans to (1) reduce quality escapes, (2) reduce manufactured defects, and (3) improve additional metrics such as corrective action cycle times, design change incorporation cycle time, etc
- Collaborate with internal sites utilizing supplier for purchased services on quality concerns and best practices.
- Drive APQP and AS13100 into the supply base, to transform the quality capabilities of the commodity.
- Utilize FLIGHT DECK and its lean tools as the primary method to solve problems and manage performance of the commodity
- Lead critical problem solving efforts for supplier escapes
- Lead team to partner with sites managing FAI and SPS packages on farmout instructions to ensure proper technical expertise is involved.
- Develop competencies of the Supplier Quality team, in order to continually improve technical capabilities of the team to (1) understand and relate to the product from a design technology perspective; (2) understand and relate to GD&T and technical standards typically found on prints and standards for the product; (3) understand and relate to the commoditys typical manufacturing and metrology processes from a manufacturing engineering perspective; and (4) improve understanding of critical quality tools required to analyze a suppliers process (MSA, GR&R, SPC, Statistics, etc)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, or Product Engineering experience) + a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience
